PLAY YOUR HEART OUT FOR CHD.

5 on 5 co-ed flag football tournament played in memory and in honor of pediatric heart patients

Since 2014, the Sophie Bowl charitable flag football tournament has been played to raise congenital heart defect (CHD) awareness and funds to support families who have been impacted by them. The tournament is hosted by In Your Shoes - The Sophia Capo Memorial Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity founded in memory of Sophia Capo who passed away in 2012 from a congenital heart defect. We work to help families personally as well with parent bags for hospital stays, patient bags and “progress presents” for kiddos undergoing procedures as well as expenses incurred by these stays. Funds from this tournament also contribute to The Sophia Capo Memorial Scholarship fund that helps our heart warriors as they enter adulthood with their college education.

This year’s tournament will be held July 13th, 2024 at the Hall of Fame Village Sports Complex. Check In opens at 9 a.m. and tournament play begins at 10 a.m.

Heart “Hall of Famers”

Each year registered teams play for Heart Hall of Famers or, in other words, local pediatric heart heroes! This program creates bonds, raises awareness and honors the incredible kids that have faced big challenges. Teams meet their Hall of Famers on game day and learn about them, their medical conditions, interventions and get to know them personally. We take team pictures and present each Hall of Famer with a game ball signed by their team!
